PREDICTING PRECIPITATES AND MAXIMUM ION CONCENTRATION - TUTORIAL 11
This tutorial shows how the Ksp can be used to predict whether a solid precipitate will form or not when two ionic solutions are mixed. It also shows how to calculate the maximum ion concentration possible in a solution or the minimum ion concentration required to start formation of a precipitate. Example questions are given and solved. The "Solutions" for this Tutorial on the web page contain the answers to the questions. These tutorials were originally created to help students learn materials on solubility equilibrium. They are written in a "conversational" style, are easy to follow, and great learning tools for chemistry students everywhere.
